The last few weeks have been exciting for many Financial Institution Group bankers. A certain Dutch institution has been placed under a large amount of pressure – and a “white knight” may be stepping in.
Arguably, the driver for this set of actions has been the effect that a hedge fund has had on the marketplace. Driving investor sentiment, that shareholder value has not been served, has been instrumental in forcing the board of the Dutch bank in question to consider its options and think through a potential sale.
