Demand for IT skills is a pendulum, not a straight line - Computer Weekly

[30-01-2009]

In this letter, Morse's Michael Holton discusses why businesses need to break free from the cycle of constantly hiring and firing skilled IT workers in response to the demands of the market.  He goes on to describe strategies organisations can use to avoid this cycle, such as flexible resourcing.

"Rather than adapting to the ever changing skills market, businesses should be aiming to remove themselves from the cycle altogether.  By employing strategies such as flexible resourcing, companies can gain access to a pool of readily-available, skilled IT workers from a trusted third party on top of their own core employees and can ramp up or, conversely, shed skill sets at short notice."
