Jonathan
Technical Architect, Management Consulting
I started out in a software development consultancy some 11 years ago and joined Morse in 2004 when the Financial Services Applications & Technology Group was first established. My role is to advise on technology strategy and implementation across various disciplines in financial services focussing recently on fund-of-hedge-fund operations. Since joining I've engaged with numerous clients who've included software vendors, large asset managers, funds-of-hedge-fund managers and tier-1 investment banks.
My day to day activities vary considerably depending on my client commitments; it's difficult to point to a typical month since I've been with Morse. Some client engagements require my exclusive dedicated time, where the emphasis is on regularly delivering visible results. In other cases my days and weeks include writing articles for industry publications, keeping up to date with the latest industry developments, attending conferences, recruitment, contributing to the company-wide knowledge pool whilst continuing to work on client projects.
Morse has challenged me in ways I've never been before. From the outset I've had the chance to get involved in the full client-engagement lifecycle including generating business through promoting Morse, initial meetings with clients, writing proposals as well as delivering the final results and maintaining ongoing relationships. In no other consultancy have I handed out so many business cards - I never leave the office without them!
More than any other consultancy I’ve been exposed to I've found that Morse embraces the true differentiators of a consultancy. It takes a proactive approach to knowledge management, thought leadership and the cross pollination of ideas. This has been maintained despite the continuous growth over the past few years and I've been involved in a number of cross-business initiatives, forging relationships across the company. For a consultancy of its size it's remarkably accessible.
