The challenge

Warburtons needed to migrate a sales order processing legacy system to SAP, a change that would affect 125 staff across 23 sites. Many of its sales staff hadn’t used SAP before and each site had its own way of working. The project constituted a major change management challenge to gain staff acceptance for the system, while introducing uniform business processes.

The solution

Warburtons engaged Morse as its change management partner. Morse worked with Warburtons to introduce a robust change management methodology, which included stakeholder management, communications strategy, training, coaching and benefits evaluation. Regular project days were held to communicate the change and get staff feedback, while progress at individual sites was measured using Morse’s business readiness monitor.

The benefits

The new system and business processes were embraced by staff, who felt they had been consulted throughout. Morse’s business readiness monitor gave the project team an easy-to-use visual assessment of progress at sites, so that problems could be addressed. Warburtons is so impressed with the methodology that it is customising it to use as the template for future change projects.
