The challenge 
To reduce business risk by replacing the large number of disparate and often ageing IT systems within SSL with a single software platform. There was also a need to develop greater efficiency in business processes to support the company as it moves forward.

The solution 
SSL chose SAP as its preferred platform and Morse as its implementation partner. The focus of phase 1 of the project was to implement an ERP solution and establish the basis for business intelligence. The core SAP template has successfully gone live in the Scandinavian region, Benelux, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with the UK to follow shortly.

The benefits 
SSL reduced its business risk by implementing a state-of-the-art ERP platform and introducing standard processes. The new platform will bring greater efficiency, shorter lead times, increased responsiveness and quicker benefit from future business acquisitions. Valuable SAP skills were transferred to SSL employees during the project and day-to-day SAP issues can now be handled in-house.
