Investec Treasury - Treasury Back Office System Selection

The challenge

Investec is an international, specialist banking group that provides a diverse range of financial products and services to a niche client base in three principal markets, the United Kingdom, South Africa and Australia. Investec Treasury requested our services to assist them with the evaluation and selection of a new Treasury system.

The solution

The scope of the evaluation was encompassing all the asset classes that they are trading (from vanilla money market instruments to complex derivative instruments and commodities) and all Back Office processes. In line with recommendations made in an earlier project, the new system will aim at simplifying the current application architecture supporting their back office across their London and Johannesburg offices.

We started with a long list of over twenty systems, before recommending a preferred solution as the system offering the best fit to their requirements.

The benefits

Our contribution to the success of the project included implementing our standard system evaluation methodology and its associated project templates, driving the delivery and preparation of all the project artefacts, facilitating the key decisions making process and managing the relationship with all the vendors.
