Morse's customer, a leading provider of sports, movies, entertainment and news, required a high availability customer authentication system, which could be used by customers dialling in to access a range of wireless-based interactive services. It's wireless platform availability is dependent upon the availability of an Oracle database running on a clustered Sun platform. The customer was experiencing difficulties in finding the necessary skills to ensure 24x7 platform availability, and based on previous experience it felt Morse's depth and breadth of knowledge would make it a logical partner to help implement a managed solution to address the problem. Morse reacted rapidly and took over full remote operational management. The result was an increase in availability to 100% system uptime, broken only by planned maintenance schedules. Following the success of this phase, Morse was invited by the customer to extend the scope of the service to include full backup solution management.
