Skills and experience
This position typically involves supporting NT, Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 server products, across domains, and dealing with second-line support teams. Support tasks will cover print/file servers, Antivirus patching as well as DHCP/WINS/DNS and your experience will include:
- Managing and supporting call escalation systems at the 3rd line level
- Extensive client facing Windows NT/2000 support experience and experience in a large heterogeneous server support environment
- Administration, installation and troubleshooting Windows NT, 2000 server and desktop operating systems
- Compaq server hardware and Insight Manager experience
- Working knowledge of backup systems e.g. ArcServe or Veritas BackUp Exec
- Administration and Trouble shooting of MS Active Directory environment
- Usage of call management systems (e.g. Remedy, Peregrine, Royal Blue etc.)
- Solid VB Scripting skills
- Desirable:
- Administration, installation and troubleshooting Windows 2003 server
- Understanding of networking, routers and switches
- SAN technology exposure
- Experience of HP-UX/Linux and Netserver
- Experience supporting SQL Server systems within a demanding operational environment
Qualifications
- Windows NT 4/2000/2003 Server Certified
- Professional qualifications considered an advantage. e.g. Compaq accreditation, MCSE 2000/2003 qualified MCDBA qualification
