Data Management
An essential part of retiring assets is ensuring that any disposal is executed in line with the WEEE Directive (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) and the Data Protection Act 1998.
On receipt of your retired assets, Mose conducts a full audit allowing an asset register to be returned to you. To complete this service in line with legislation, Morse has partnered with a specialist third party asset management organisation to ensure that tapes are shredded, disks are wiped and all asset labels and customer identifying marks are removed and destroyed.
Redeploy or Dispose
Morse will consult with you to establish the most financially rewarding route for your equipment whilst still ensuring your environmental obligations are met. This can either mean using the equipment as a cash generator or returning it to you for redeployment once cleaned. We ensure that we have researched with you all options for extending the life of the product through alternative uses before disposing of it in an environmentally friendly manner and in line with current legislation.
The redeployment service incorporates the secure collection of the designated machines from the customer site, making sure any data on that retiring device is kept safe while the machine is cleaned, and transporting the machines back to the agreed customer site. It can then be reinstalled immediately like a new machine or it can be stored for future projects.
For the machines that cannot be reused, re-sold or traded-in, we ensure that the disposal process is in line with WEEE regulations at an authorised disposal centre. This will involve stripping the equipment of any salvageable parts and then breaking it down into its components, such as different metals, which can be taken away and smelted.
In order to guarantee that this process has been done according to regulations, we provide the appropriate certifications demonstrating that you have complied with the Data Protection Act and all EU Environmental legislation for future auditing.
